Hello. It's been a while. Okay, a long while. And I kind of feel like I've risen from the dead.
I also feel a little guilty for not writing, and like a lot of writers, I have a million excuses for why I stopped. You may say there's no good excuse for my absence, that I should have found the time or the patience or the whatever, and maybe I should have. But I'll tell you why I had such a long absence:
1. My husband lost his job. Yeah, he went into work one day and management announced they were closing down the whole place. Long story short, we landed on our feet. We're good. But we had to pack up our house, our two kids, and our sanity and move to Cincinnati in order for my husband to transfer to another job with the same company.
Needless to say, life was stressful as we made decisions that would impact us for the rest of our lives. I was stressed, suffering from bouts of anxiety and insomnia. My already fragile adrenals were fried. And I didn't really feel like creating new recipes and writing about them. Just sayin'.
2. I was unsure about where I wanted my blog to go. I enjoy creating new recipes, but I only want to share a recipe that's great, not just mediocre. Cooking with Paleo-approved ingredients can be a little tricky and often takes repeated experimentation. And that's expensive. I'm a stay-at-home mother, we live off one income, and there's not a lot of room in our budget for me to make 10 batches of a new bread when almond flour costs about six dollars a pound.
I reevaluated my blog. Do I want to make the best recipes or use recipes from other sites? Do I want to write more research-based articles or advice column stuff? So many directions I could go!
I thought I had more than two reasons for copping out on the blog, but I guess not. So there it is, folks. There's my confession.
But now I'm writing again. And there will be some big changes coming to the blog.
Will there be recipes? Yes. Some of them mine, some of them compiled from other well-trusted sites.
And there will also be some more simple advice because I see a lot of people on Facebook who could use a helping hand with the transition to Paleo. How to handle Paleo and kids. What ingredients can be substituted for the old favorites (like butter or cream). How to navigate birthday parties or family functions. Stuff like that.
So hello again. Sorry I left, but I promise, it was me, not you. I'll say it again: it was me, not you.
The big changes should be coming soon. Thanks for sticking around!
Take care,
Amber
